MEN Media is in the final stages of its move from the centre of Manchester to its new home in Oldham.
The Manchester Evening News has been located in the centre of the city since its launch in 1868 – most recently housed in the Scott Place development.
The move, which will see all departments of the Evening News and its 21 associated weekly titles move, is taking place over three consecutive weekends and is set to finishing by Monday, 4 October.
Parent company Trinity Mirror wants to bring together the majority of MEN Media’s business functions under one roof at its Chadderton site which is where it prints the majority of the papers it owns locally.
MEN Media will retain a city centre presence and there are plans for advertising and editorial staff to hot-desk at various locations throughout Greater Manchester.
Plans to move the Manchester Evening News from its traditional city centre location emerged as Trinity Mirror finalised its purchase of MEN Media from Guardian Media Group in February.
Trinity Mirror bought GMG Regional Media – which also includes a number of newspapers in and around Reading – for £7.4m cash and the release of GMG from a print contract valued at £37.4 million.
